An award-winning extra virgin olive oil rooted in Cretan tradition
In the sun-drenched region of Amari in Rethymno, Crete, nestled among dry-farmed olive groves, a premium olive oil is born — one that carries not only flavor but also heritage. Petalas EVOO, made exclusively from Koroneiki olives, offers a bold fruity aroma, rich taste, and high nutritional value, standing out as a symbol of authenticity and excellence.
A legacy since 1920
The story of Petalas dates back to 1920, when the grandfather of the current producer, Nikiforos Kanavas, a traditional farrier by trade, began cultivating the family’s first olive trees. The name “Petalas” — meaning horseshoe in Greek — and its emblem on the bottle are a tribute to his roots and craftsmanship.
Today, this legacy lives on through the family’s continued commitment to combining traditional cultivation methods with modern sustainable practices, always with respect for nature and the land.
International recognition
Petalas EVOO has earned a place on the world stage. In 2025, it was awarded a Double Gold Medal at the prestigious London International Olive Oil Competition (London IOOC), confirming its exceptional quality in aroma, balance, and taste. This achievement followed its Bronze Medal win in 2022, marking a steady rise in global appreciation.
Excellence in every step
From harvest to bottling, every stage of Petalas EVOO’s production is handled with care and dedication. Its elegant white bottle, featuring a minimalist yet powerful horseshoe symbol, reflects a philosophy of refinement, purity, and respect for tradition.
This is not just olive oil — it is a culinary ambassador of Crete.
